Medical Disclaimer & Emergency Warning

THIS SERVICE IS NOT FOR EMERGENCIES. If you believe your pet is sick, injured, or in urgent need of medical attention, contact your local veterinarian or an emergency animal hospital immediately.

The content provided on Dogster Ask a Vet is for informational and educational purposes only. It is not intended to be a substitute for professional veterinary advice, diagnosis, or treatment. Never disregard professional veterinary advice or delay in seeking it because of something you have read on this website.

1. Agreement to Terms

By accessing or using the website located at askavet.dogster.com(the "Service"), which is owned and operated by Dogster ("we," "us," or "our"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you disagree with any part of the terms, you may not access the Service.

2. Description of Service

The Service is an archive of veterinary questions and answers. Qualified veterinary professionals previously reviewed and answered questions submitted by pet parents. The Service is not currently accepting new questions. Existing answers remain available to browse and search for informational purposes.

You acknowledge that:

  • No VCPR: Use of this Service does not establish a Veterinarian-Client-Patient Relationship (VCPR) between you and the veterinarians who answered questions. The veterinarians cannot physically examine your animal and therefore cannot provide a definitive diagnosis or prescribe medication.
  • General Advice Only: Answers provided are based solely on the limited information originally submitted and are intended as general guidance, not specific medical orders.

3. User Submissions & Content License

If you submitted questions, text, pet names, or images ("User Content") while submissions were open, you retain your ownership rights. By submitting that User Content, you granted Dogster a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, perpetual, irrevocable, and fully sublicensable license to:

  • Use, reproduce, modify, adapt, publish, translate, create derivative works from, distribute, and display such content throughout the world in any media (including this website, social media, and marketing materials).
  • Use the name and pet details submitted in connection with such content.

Public Visibility: Questions answered by a veterinarian, including their text, the pet parent's first name, pet details, and uploaded photos, may remain publicly visible on the internet and indexed by search engines.

4. User Conduct

You agree not to use the Service to:

  • Submit false, misleading, or fraudulent information.
  • Upload images that contain human faces, nudity, offensive material, or content you do not own.
  • Harass, abuse, or harm another person or animal.
  • Violate any applicable laws or regulations.

We reserve the right to remove any content or refuse service to anyone for any reason at any time.

5. Intellectual Property

The Service and its original content (excluding User Content), features, and functionality are and will remain the exclusive property of Dogster and its licensors. The Service is protected by copyright, trademark, and other laws of both the United States and foreign countries.

6. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, in no event shall Dogster, its directors, employees, partners, agents, suppliers, or affiliates, be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including without limitation, loss of profits, data, use, goodwill, or other intangible losses, resulting from:

  • Your access to or use of or inability to access or use the Service;
  • Any conduct or content of any third party on the Service;
  • Any content obtained from the Service; and
  • Unauthorized access, use, or alteration of your transmissions or content.

7. Indemnification

You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Dogster and its licensee and licensors, and their employees, contractors, agents, officers, and directors, from and against any and all claims, damages, obligations, losses, liabilities, costs or debt, and expenses (including but not limited to attorney's fees), resulting from or arising out of a) your use and access of the Service, or b) a breach of these Terms.

8. Changes to Terms

We reserve the right, at our sole discretion, to modify or replace these Terms at any time. If a revision is material we will try to provide at least 30 days' notice prior to any new terms taking effect. What constitutes a material change will be determined at our sole discretion.
